Our history
From its very beginnings, XClube aspired to reach the standards of the finest liberal clubs in Europe and the US, always with a touch that could only be Portuguese. This is the journey that brought it here.
Connoisseurs of the milieu, both as patrons and as observers, the ten founding couples brought to Portugal what they had seen and studied in the most respected liberal clubs of Europe and America. But with a clear intent from day one: not to import anything to the letter. XClube was to mirror, in every detail, the specificity of Portuguese culture and habits.
On 4 February 2006, that wish took shape. In one of Lisbon’s most emblematic and prestigious areas, XClube opened its doors: small, ambitious, and already with a very clear idea of what it wanted to be.
A single year was enough. The reception was such that, in 2007, the venue was enlarged more than threefold. Every area was deeply restructured, and the two main welcoming zones entirely redesigned. It was the first sign of a maxim XClube has never abandoned: one grows when it makes sense, and one always improves.
Since then, XClube is not only a unique proposition in Portugal, it is one of the most respected clubs of its kind in Europe. Proof of it, week after week, are the hundreds of members who frequent it, and the visitors who come from abroad and return. And return again.

A journey made of moments
2006
The founding
On 4 February 2006 XClube is born, the fruit of the wish of ten founding couples of creating a benchmark liberal club in Portugal. In one of Lisbon’s most emblematic and prestigious areas.
2007
The first expansion
About a year after opening, given the remarkable response of the first members, the venue is enlarged more than threefold. Areas deeply restructured, two main welcoming zones entirely redesigned. The quality standard that defines the club begins to take shape.
2013
A new era
In February, a new management team takes office, composed of five couples well known in the community. With them, XClube undergoes a thorough renewal. The nightclub stands on a par with the country’s leading venues in sound, lighting and scale. The lounge becomes the room where every night begins. The private rooms gain solutions never before seen in Portugal.
2015
The definitive home
A move to a more easily accessible, and at the same time more discreet, area, a few minutes from Lisbon International Airport. Almost 1000 m² of space. For the first time, XClube openly establishes itself, without reservations, as one of the largest clubs of its kind in all of Europe.
2018
The continuity
The premature passing of one of the founding partners leads the four remaining to embrace the project with even greater intensity. XClube goes on faithful to those who built it, faithful to the ambition that gave it life. Because some things built together call to be kept together.
Today
The tradition endures
Hundreds of members, week after week. Visitors who come from abroad, and return. Themed parties that have become an unmissable reference of the milieu. The tradition is still what it was, and is to be kept that way.
In twenty years, we have changed area, we have changed team, we have changed size. We have not changed our principles.
XClube is today what it has always meant to be: a benchmark liberal club, open to those who meet its admission rules and embrace its philosophy. A community that dances, talks, meets the friends of always, makes new ones. And which, Saturday after Saturday, continues to live up to the maxim that has accompanied it from day one.
